North Country Election Official Says Democrats’ Allowed To Switch Candidates

Despite early support for Kamala Harris to secure the Democratic nomination for the upcoming presidential election, the question of whose name will appear on the ballot in November remains unanswered. Plattsburgh, N.Y. (WCAX) reports.

According to sources, Speaker of the House for the Republican Party, Mike Johnson, is advocating for legal action to be taken against the Democratic Party. Johnson contends that it is illegal for the party to select a new candidate for the upcoming November election following President Joe Biden’s primary victory earlier this year.

The Clinton County Board of Elections’ Republican commissioner has stated that the argument lacks legal merit not only in New York state but probably across the entire nation.

According to David Souliere, the nomination of presidential candidates can be changed by both major political parties. He explains that this is made possible through automatic presidential ballot access, which is requested after a party convention.

According to Souliere, the presidential primaries held in each state are essentially just like straw polls conducted by each party. Even though they are held, they do not hold any legal binding because ultimately it’s the parties who get to decide at the convention who they want to put on the ballot.

According to him, individuals should be able to view sample ballots by September.
