The mother who waited several days to call 911 after breaking her baby’s skull and then leaving his body in the house to decompose was sentenced

Court documents reveal that MeIissa, a 40-year-old mother, received a life sentence in prison, with the possibility of parole after 20 years, for her role in her baby’s death. The lady pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and received her sentence on Thursday. Prosecutors allege that the woman called 911 days after breaking her baby’s skull and then allowed the child’s body to decompose in the house for several days.

The investigation began in September 2022, when the mother called the authorities and informed the dispatcher that her child was not responding. The responding cops pronounced the boy dead at the site and discovered that his body was decomposing. The first responders discovered that the youngster had been deceased for several days, and officials initiated an inquiry.

The medical examiner informed investigators that the baby had sustained blunt force injuries to his head, resulting in a cracked skull. An examination apparently found that the baby’s fatal injury was caused by his skull being crushed after being placed between two items. The defendant’s counsel reportedly claimed that the woman was at a sober living facility when the fatal incident occurred.

According to the attorney, the mother had no idea she was pregnant until she went into delivery. According to reports, the defense attorney reportedly stated that “his client believed her pregnancy was a kidney stone and delivered the baby herself.” According to court documents, the mother initially pleaded not guilty due to insanity, but this plea was later dropped.
