His choice came after fellow Democrats urged him to withdraw due to his performance in a recent debate. In addition to these growing concerns, Biden also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.
On Sunday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his support for President Biden’s four-year term. He praised the President as a patriot who has served the country with honor, both as a Senator and as Vice President. According to Shapiro, President Biden has accomplished a great deal in moving the country forward, defending democracy, and ensuring real freedom. The Governor expressed his pride in working alongside the President and his gratitude for his leadership and unwavering commitment to delivering for Pennsylvania, the state where he was raised.
Governor Shapiro has come under the radar of many as a recent poll suggests that he could be a strong contender to support Vice President Harris in the 2024 presidential election as her running mate.
According to a poll conducted in two swing states, Kamala Harris, accompanied by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, could emerge as the winner of the 2024 election.
In a recent post, Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey expressed his appreciation to President Biden, stating, “Your over 50 years of service to our grateful nation are truly commendable, Mr. President. Your tenure in office will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most successful and impactful presidencies in American history.”
Delaware’s Governor, John Carney, expressed modest comments about the announcement. President Biden had represented the state for over thirty years in the U.S. Senate.
Carney expressed in a post to X that the people of Delaware are well aware of Joe Biden’s unwavering dedication, effectiveness, and inspiration as a public servant. Biden’s remarkable service spans over 36 years in the U.S. Senate, his tenure as Vice President, and his current role as President.
Biden was also praised by Delaware Senator Chris Coons.
Senator Coons expressed his admiration for President Biden’s remarkable record of public service. According to him, President Biden has been the most influential president of his lifetime, and his legacy of prioritizing his country’s interests over his own is further reinforced by his recent decision to withdraw as a presidential candidate. Senator Coons conveyed this message on social media.
As President Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 election race, Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Dave McCormick took the opportunity to criticize PA Senior United States Senator Bob Casey.
McCormick tweeted that Joe Biden is incapable of serving as Commander-in-Chief. He further added that Bob Casey is well aware of Biden’s shortcomings, but has been weak in admitting it to the people of Pennsylvania. McCormick criticized Casey’s tendency to keep his head down during tough times, stating that it reflects Casey’s personality.
Senator Casey, a representative from Pennsylvania, shared his thoughts on the news via social media. He expressed his gratitude towards President Biden for his dedication towards improving the lives of Americans and acknowledged his historic accomplishments, which include rebuilding the economy after the pandemic and delivering the largest infrastructure investment in modern history. Senator Casey also highlighted President Biden’s exemplary career in public service and praised him as a patriot who always puts the country first.
Senator Casey expressed his unwavering support for President Biden and addressed the concerns of voters just days before Biden withdrew from the race.
The pressure is mounting between McCormick and Casey as the former trails behind the latter in recent polls.
During an interview with FOX 29’s Jeff Cole, Casey was asked about his confidence in winning the upcoming election, especially in the event of a potential loss for Biden in Pennsylvania. Without hesitation, Casey confidently replied, “I’m going to win my race.”
