The Bite Nite fundraiser for ALS Arizona raises $500,000

ALS Arizona hosted its 15th Annual Bite Nite Charity Event on June 8 and is pleased to announce that it raised $500,000 for ALS patient and family services, community outreach, and research. This amount exceeded the organization’s fundraising target of $400,000.

ALS Arizona offers medical services, support groups, and respite funds to persons diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, popularly known as Lou Gehrig’s illness or ALS. Annual expenses for those with ALS average $250,000. With events like Bite Nite, ALS Arizona can offer free revolutionary services to folks in our communities.

“We are thrilled and immensely grateful to have raised such a large amount that will significantly impact the lives of ALS patients in Arizona,” said Taryn Norley, president of ALS Arizona. “We couldn’t have done this without our wonderful community members and donors who are so passionate about our cause.”

We raised the money through ticket sales, contributions, and bids on live and silent auction goods from local businesses. Each person who attended and brought things or bites was important to the event’s success.

Through its free services, the foundation strives to enhance the quality of life for ALS sufferers. The programs aim to cater to the basic care needs of each individual, as well as the emotional needs of community members and caregivers.

The annual ALS walk, which takes place in both Scottsdale and Tucson, is another event that benefits the community. Furthermore, this year marks the tenth anniversary of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
