Newark PD: Woman Robbery And Dragging Into Street

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, a Black man approached a woman walking on Ferry Street near Union Street at 6:10 a.m. and snatched her purse.

According to Fragé, the suspect forcibly pulled the woman’s purse causing her to be dragged into the street and sustaining injuries in the process. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention and is currently in a stable condition.

According to Fragé, a witness who tried to intervene was threatened by the second suspect who brandished a handgun. The suspects then made a quick escape in a black Mazda SUV at Ferry Street and Union Street.

According to Fragé, the initial suspect is thin and has a dark complexion, sporting a black sweat jacket, pants, and black and white sneakers. Similarly, the second suspect is also described as thin with a dark complexion, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, blue shorts with pants underneath, and white sneakers.
