Son in custody after mother pushed to her death in Riverside Park, Manhattan

According to sources and the police, a tragic incident occurred on Sunday in Riverside Park, where a woman from Manhattan was pushed to her death from an embankment. The perpetrator of the attack was her son, who was taken into custody following the incident.

According to officials, a dispute arose between Vianel Garcia, aged 44, and her 22-year-old son in the vicinity of Riverside Drive and W. 165th St. in Washington Heights at around 4:15 p.m.

Police reports indicate that the man reportedly pushed the woman down a grassy embankment, as stated by witnesses.

Upon arrival, medical professionals discovered Garcia at the foot of the hill, enduring severe injuries. She was quickly transported to Harlem Hospital, but despite their efforts, her life could not be saved.

On Sunday evening, the authorities took Garcia’s son into custody at the location, and charges are pending. As of now, his identity has not been disclosed.

Police have reported that Garcia was a resident of East Harlem.
