Donald Trump returns to NJ after assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump has returned to New Jersey following an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

For the first time since Secret Service officials swept him off the stage at a rally in a frenzy, he landed at Newark International Airport overnight.

He waved once, with security both in front of and behind him. Trump’s motorcade, which included a large police presence, subsequently left the airport for his property in Bedminster.

Although there is no serious threat to any high-profile locations, such as Trump Tower, New York City is experiencing increased security as the NYPD transfers resources.

Mayor Eric Adams stated, “Whatever your politics, we should all be able to agree that violence is wrong, and we should be able to disagree peacefully.”

Adams stated that he prays for the former president’s safety.

Trump stated that, despite being shot, he would go to Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon ahead of the Republican National Convention.

He stated on his Truth Social platform that he was planning to postpone his trip following Saturday’s suspected assassination attempt, but decided he couldn’t “allow a’shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force a change in scheduling, or anything else.”
