Alabama Woman Detained for Allegedly Stealing $70K from Walmart

According to reports, a traffic stop in Gadsden, Alabama led to the arrest of a woman who is believed to be involved in a multi-state theft spree. The suspect has allegedly been involved in 46 prior theft cases from Walmart stores across the Southeast.

Larisa Vasile-Sima, a 21-year-old, has been charged with theft and criminal mischief in Alabama. Upon her arrest, Sima informed the Etowah County jail deputies that she is Armenian and does not possess a Social Security number, address, or a driver’s license.

After being taken into custody, authorities discovered that the woman was caught on the East Rome Walmart surveillance footage as one of the two culprits who pried open a spinning jewelry display case and made off with several pieces of jewelry on July 7th around 5 pm. According to reports, Sima and her accomplice left the store a short while later and were picked up by a waiting gray minivan.

It is believed that she stole jewelry valued at $1,138 from an unlocked display at Walmart at 10:54 a.m. on the same day.

According to a Walmart representative, Sima was apprehended in Alabama along with several others on unrelated charges.

During his statement to the Rome police, he revealed that she had a staggering 46 previous cases throughout the Southeast. Furthermore, he disclosed that she had stolen a considerable amount of merchandise worth around $70,000 from the company.

Etowah County, Alabama is currently detaining her without bond.
