Bond set at $50,000 for teenage driver accused of being involved in a deadly 18-wheeler crash

Police report that the individual responsible for causing an 18-wheeler to collide with a house has surrendered to authorities. The incident occurred last month in Mission, Texas.

Jose Osvaldo Sanchez, an 18-year-old, was charged with criminal negligent homicide, which is a state jail felony, as he was identified as the driver of the Fiat.

During the news conference, officials explained that Sanchez had collided with the trailer, resulting in it swerving off the road and colliding with the house.

After being discharged from the hospital, Sanchez surrendered himself on Monday and was brought before the court for arraignment at 11:35 a.m. the next day.

The judge set his bail at $50,000.

Authorities were called to the scene of a collision on the Eastbound 2600 block of W. Expressway 83, near Jr.’s Tires and Wheels, on Saturday, June 29, at 9 a.m.

Upon arriving at the location, law enforcement officials reported that the impact of the collision involved a red Fiat and a white GMC that was unoccupied at the time. Fortunately, the 19-year-old driver of the Fiat sustained only minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for further medical attention. The driver is currently in stable condition.

According to footage captured by a nearby business, the 18-wheeler can be seen crossing onto the frontage road before making its way into a parking lot and eventually colliding with the house.

According to Art Flores of the Mission Police Department, the property was unoccupied at the time when the 18-wheeler collided with the home.

Authorities have reported that crews remained at the scene early on Sunday morning to clear the area.

According to Jorge Rodriguez, the Public Information Officer at the Mission Police Department, the removal of the truck from the location resulted in the collapse of the house.
