On Monday morning, a shooting incident at Wal-Mart left an African-American man injured.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford reported that officers from the SPD and deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hwy 14 East after receiving a call about a person with a firearm.
According to Fulford, as soon as the officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a black male who was carrying a weapon in the parking lot. The male subject then aimed the weapon at the officers, who responded by firing shots that hit the subject.
According to Fulford, there were no injuries sustained by any officers. The victim, however, was transported to the emergency room at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The case is being handled by the State Bureau of Investigations.
