The chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer (R-KY), is requesting an interview with Dr. Kevin O’Connor, President Joe Biden’s personal physician. The move comes after growing concerns about the president’s age and mental sharpness surfaced since the Atlanta presidential debate last month.
According to the Washington Examiner, Comer has written a letter requesting an interview with O’Connor, as well as information about the physician’s purported involvement in a now-defunct healthcare company that is linked to James Biden, the brother of Joe Biden.
In a letter addressed to O’Connor, Comer highlighted the concerns raised by journalists following the debate between President Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27. According to Comer, it has become apparent to many Americans that the President’s health may be a cause for concern.
According to Comer, there is a growing concern among Americans about President Biden’s leadership skills. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is now investigating the circumstances surrounding his assessment in February of this year. Comer highlighted that the assessment described President Biden as a healthy, active, and robust 81-year-old male who is fit to carry out his presidential duties successfully.
During the discussion, the committee chairman expressed his concern to O’Connor about the potential influence of her private business dealings with the Biden family on her medical assessments. He specifically mentioned the Biden family’s previous involvement with Americore, a healthcare company that is now bankrupt.
During the committee’s investigation into the Biden family and their supposed business transactions, a bankruptcy trustee testified last year that James Biden, the president’s brother, received a payment of $600,000 from Americore. This payment was made to allow the company to use the Biden surname to obtain funding from the Middle East. In light of these revelations, Comer has asked O’Connor to submit any and all documents and communications in his possession concerning Americore and James Biden.
By July 14, the committee aims to schedule a transcribed interview with House Oversight Committee counsel.
The White House had previously kept the public in the dark regarding what medical evaluations President Biden underwent after his lackluster performance in last month’s debate. This raised concerns about his age and mental sharpness. However, on Thursday, it was officially confirmed that Biden did indeed have a check-up following the debate.
During the debate, the Biden campaign disclosed that the President had been fighting a cold.
Yesterday, reports circulated about White House visitor logs that revealed Parkinson’s disease expert, Dr. Kevin Cannard of the Walter Reed Medical Center, met with O’Connor and two others at the White House residence clinic on January 17th. Additionally, the logs showed that he appeared as a visitor 10 times since November 15th, 2022. As a result, the House Oversight Committee has requested further information on these visits.
