According to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti, Slavko Bajovic from the Paramus Office noticed a white BMW X4 driving recklessly on Route 17 north near Midland Avenue at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2.
According to Guidetti, a registration check revealed that the BMW had been stolen from Montgomery, NJ, and was being sought in connection with two different motorcycle thefts.
The suspects attempted to escape when Bajovic intervened, but ended up crashing into the center divider of the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway, according to the chief.
After their car was pulled over on Century Road, two individuals from Newark, namely 20-year-old Jaheim Jordan and 23-year-old Dion Wiggins II, along with another person, ran into a nearby wooded area. While Bajovic was able to capture Wiggins, who was the driver, Jordan was discovered hiding in the playground of Saddle River Park by New Jersey State Police Trooper Fuentes, Officer Doyle from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, and their K9, Sany.
The authorities are still searching for the third suspect who is yet to be apprehended.
Wiggins faced charges of assaulting an officer, as well as eluding both in a motor vehicle and on foot. Meanwhile, Jordan was charged with joyriding and resisting arrest. Following their arrests, both men were placed in the Bergen County Jail.
