39-year-old Man Stabs Landlord Dead In Mays Landing Home, Prosecutor Says

On July 3 at around 5:20 p.m., Solomon Lonner was fatally stabbed and Michael Carney has been charged with murder and weapons offenses in connection with the incident, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Lonner was discovered inside a residence at 789 Park Road in Mays Landing, where several individuals had reported a stabbing in progress via 911 calls. Lonner had sustained multiple stab wounds, and the police were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Authorities reported that Lonner, the owner of the house and landlord to Carney and other tenants, was rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City after the incident. Sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

After being detained at the scene, Carney was charged with a crime. However, the cause and manner of Lonner’s death are still unknown and pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Major Crimes Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hamilton Township Police Department are currently investigating the incident.
