KANSAS CITY, Mo. — a tragic incident unfolded as a young woman lost her life in an overnight shooting at a gas station parking lot. Identified as 22-year-old Tykeedra Henderson, she was discovered inside a vehicle by authorities from the Kansas City Police Department.
Early this morning, around 1 a.m., Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting at a QuickTrip at the intersection of 31st Street and Bell Street. Upon arrival, police discovered Tykeedra Henderson in an unresponsive state at the gas station. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Detectives investigating the case believe Henderson was inside a vehicle on the northern part of the parking lot when unidentified individuals fired shots from outside the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently came to a halt on the southern side of the parking lot, where officers found it.
KCPD stated that detectives and crime scene investigators have gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, and spoken with individuals present at the scene. As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with this tragic incident. The investigation continues.
