New school year gets underway

School will be in session during the morning of Tuesday, August 15, for Garden City Public Schools. 

This is the first day of school for the 2023-24 school year for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, seventh grade, ninth and tenth grades and all students new to the district. No breakfast or lunches will be served on this day at the schools. The schools will serve breakfast and lunches on the first full day of school on Wednesday. 

There will be no school in the afternoon for a scheduled workday for teachers in the district.  The district offices and facilities will be open with regular business hours on Tuesday. 

The schools will release as follows on Tuesday: Garden City High School, Horace Good Middle School, and Kenneth Henderson Middle School at 11:10 a.m.  Garden City Achieve at 11:40 a.m.  Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center, Charles Stones Intermediate Center, and the elementary schools at 11:50 a.m.

The first full day of school for Garden City Public Schools will be Wednesday, August 16.  All elementary through high school classes will be in session for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

The first day of school for Garfield Early Childhood Center is Monday, August 21. The morning session will start at 8:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 12:15 p.m.

The district is asking parents to update their contact information with the schools. The district needs this contact information so buildings can contact families on any updates as we progress through the school year.
