The GCCC Alumni Association has announced the creation of a new institutional scholarship for children of alumni.
“As part of this new alumni initiative, GCCC is making a concerted and vested effort to connect and engage with alumni,” GCCC President Ryan Ruda said. “ To further show commitment to alumni, GCCC is investing scholarship dollars to support children of alumni who will be attending GCCC.”
The student applicant’s parent must have completed a credential (certificate or degree) from Garden City Community College.
Applicants must complete the 2023-2024 Scholarship Application, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and must email firstname.lastname@example.org with their parent’s legal name and indicate that they are applying for the Alumni Scholarship. The award amount will vary depending on the number of applicants.
“We know that many Busters have earned certificates or degrees from GCCC, and this Alumni Scholarship is a way to honor them. This direct scholarship for their children will help make education more affordable,” Scott Kedrowski, Dean of Advancement and Alumni Relations, said.
Garden City Community College offers over 300 academic scholarships each year. Students are encouraged to apply early as scholarships are awarded in the order applications are received and until funds are exhausted. “Central values of Garden City Community College are being student-centered, focusing on access, and affordability,” Ruda said. “I am excited to initiate funds to support our alumni and families as they further their education through GCCC.”
