Alumni Association launched at GCCC

Garden City Community College has announced the launch of the GCCC Alumni Association, described as a network of proud Garden City Broncbusters supporting each other and encouraging new students to explore the college.
The mission of the GCCC Alumni Association is to keep Broncbusters engaged with GCCC while supporting alumni programming, networking opportunities, student scholarships, and more.

Memberships in the association are available through annual or lifetime memberships. A single annual membership is $25, and a joint couple’s annual membership is $40.

An individual lifetime membership can be purchased for $250, a lifetime couple’s membership for $400, and a senior (65+) lifetime membership for $200.

Membership can be given as a one-time gift or as a recurring membership.
Association membership benefits include a print copy of GCCC Annual Report Magazine, priority invitations to GCCC events, a GCCC Alumni decal, exclusive alumni news and announcement, and a 10% discount at the Broncbuster Bookstore.

The class of 2023 graduates will be gifted a free one-year membership when they receive their GCCC degree and/or certificate.

Those who graduated or attended Garden City Community College, are already a GCCC Alum and a Buster for life.

Those interested in joining the Alumni Association can do so at https://www.gcccks.edu/alumni/membership.aspx.

Scott Kedrowski, Dean of Advancement and Alumni Relations, leads the alumni association and is excited about the prospect of connecting former Busters back home.
“By forming the Alumni Association, we are following through on our Buster Values and creating a space to ensure former students are ‘Aways Home’ at Garden City Community College,” he said.

GCCC President Ryan Ruda stressed the importance of connecting with alumni.

“Finding ways to stay connected and engaged with alumni is critical. With the college motto, ‘From Here, You Can Go Anywhere,’ the Alumni Association’s formation is built on bringing alumni back to GCCC and keeping them engaged with the college,” Ruda said. “Once a Buster, always a Buster, and through this work, we will strive to build connection and affirm to alumni that GCCC is always home for them. I am excited for this initiative and finding ways to connect our alums with Garden City Community College. It’s a great day to be a Buster.”

One of the first initiatives the GCCC Alumni Association completed was the creation of an Alumni Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students whose parent(s) completed a credential (certificate or degree) from GCCC.

Another initiative in the works is an alumni match day that will allow donations to be matched dollar for dollar and create a permanent source of income to fund scholarships for years to come, thanks to a matching grant secured by the GCCC Alumni Association through the Mary Jo Williams Charitable Trust.
