Garden City Community College student Alexis Heckel has been selected as one of seven recipients of the 2023-2024 Noyce Teacher Leader Scholarship.
The Noyce Teacher-Leader Program is a competitive scholarship program at Fort Hays State University that offers a $14,591 renewable scholarship to juniors and seniors preparing to become a science or math teacher.

In addition to preparation for teaching, additional resources are provided for undergraduate research experiences, conferences, and support for transitioning from student to teacher.
The National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Scholarship Program is a collaboration between teacher education, physics, geosciences, chemistry, and biology and is designed to increase the supply of highly qualified middle and high school science and mathematics teachers.
