With the mission of “producing positive contributors to society,” GCCC is taking a bold step toward helping to keep access and affordability at the forefront.
Starting in Fall 2023, GCCC will provide scholarships to each outreach high school in the GCCC
service area to help offset the cost of dual credit coursework.
For several years, GCCC has provided dual credit scholarships to Finney County high schools. To better serve students, funds will be allocated to all high schools in the Garden City Community College service area, including: Syracuse, Lakin, Deerfield, Tribune, Leoti, Scott City, Dighton, and Healy, along with Holcomb, Garden City, and Garden City Achieve. The outreach high school counselor/site coordinator will monitor and award these funds to students enrolling in dual credit courses through GCCC. This is a new initiative and one which GCCC plans to be able to expand over time.
“GCCC is committed and invested in making higher education accessible and affordable. These
newly allocated funds will open opportunities for students to access higher education through
GCCC,” Dr. Ryan Ruda, GCCC President, said. “Through our Strategic Enrollment
Management plan, our goal is to continue ways in which we can continue to increase
access and affordability, and we look forward to working with our partner school districts to
implement this and build upon the success.”
