Monthly interactive puppet theater shows at GCCC

Brett Crandall Studios will present free interactive puppet theater shows each month through next May at Garden City Community College.

The community is welcome to attend the multiple performance dates of Brett Crandall’s Play Practice with a show lineup that includes Tarzan, Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, and more.

The fall dates and times are listed below, and the spring dates will be announced soon.

Brett Crandall’s Play Practice 2022 Shows inside the GCCC Pauline Joyce Auditorium include:

• Oliver Twist: 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22; 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26; 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27

• Wonderful Wizard of Oz: 6 p.m. Sept. 19; 2 p.m. Sept. 23; 2 p.m. Sept. 24.  

• The Trials of David: A Queer, Biblical Puppet Play: 6 p.m. Oct. 17; 2p.m. Oct. 21; 2 p.m. Oct. 22.

• A Christmas Carol: 6 p.m. Nov. 28; 2 p.m. Dec. 2; 2 p.m. Dec. 3 (the Dec. 3 performance will be located in the Endowment Room inside the Beth Tedrow Student Center).

• Good King Wenceslas: 6 p.m. Dec. 12; 2 p.m. Dec. 16; 2 p.m. Dec. 17.

Each show will be held inside the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Auditorium on the GCCC Campus, except for the Dec. 3 show.

The performances are sponsored by a grant acquired by the GCCC Endowment Association from the Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF). The WKCF began in 1996 and has been working ever since to connect great programs and charities with donors who care.

Representing the broadest charitable interests of its donors, WKCF seeks to improve all aspects of the quality of life in the 15 counties of southwest Kansas. The mission of WKCF is “Enriching Western Kansas life through philanthropy, leadership and collaboration.”
