Students earn awards in Scholastic Art and Writing

Garden City High School art students participated in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and recently received word on how they ranked in the competition.   Scholastic Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

GCHS winners include:

  • Andrea Sandoval, Gold Key
  • Natalie Viana, Gold Key with her work titled “R.I.P”
  • Evelyn Alvarez, Silver Key with her work titled “Kenai”
  • Felicity Miller, Honorable Mention with her work titled “Self Portrait”

Gold Key is highest award in Scholastic. Any piece that receives a Gold Key goes on to the national competition.

Garden City High School art teachers are Josh Greenberg, Kaitlin Hahn, Alberto Hernandez Martinez, and Candace Waltz.
