GCCC student app dubbed ‘Buster Biz’ after contest

GARDEN CITY – The Garden City Community College mobile app has a new name, “Buster Biz”, following a naming contest at the end of the fall semester.

Previously, the mobile application used by GCCC students did not have an official name and was just referred to as the GCCC App.

Phi Theta Kappa submitted the winning entry in the App renaming contest that was organized by the GCCC Student Government Association.

During the contest, GCCC students or student organizations had the opportunity to submit a new app name suggestion with the winner receiving either a $500 individual scholarship or student organization funding.

The submissions were compiled, and campus-wide voting was held online before winter break.

The new app icon was designed by the GCCC Marketing Department to coincide with the new name launching.

Buster Biz is a mobile application available to GCCC students and employees that allows quick and easy access to personal course schedules, virtual event calendars, mental health support, community building tools, and other student and campus services. Campus organizations and departments utilize the app to keep students informed and engaged throughout the academic year.
