GCCC PRISM to Host Sexual Assault Awareness Month Event

GCCC’s PRISM student organization is hosting a come and go Sexual Assault Awareness Month event on April 28th and April 29th from 11 AM to 2 PM in the Campus Quad. As April is sexual assault awareness month, this two-day event will promote community awareness of the public health problem of sexual assault.
Individuals are encouraged to stop by each booth and learn about campus clubs or community support services. Organizations that will have booths are Family Crisis, GCCC Art Club, GCCC TRIO, GCCC Student Health Office (Campus Nurse and Genesis Family Health), GCCC Campus Closet, ABC Pregnancy Center, and more. Each organization attending will provide information regarding their specific support service.
Educational posters will be set up around the quad with sexual assault statistics, supportive information, LGBTQ awareness, and allyship. A donation drawing to help PRISM raise funds for Oasis of Peace, a Family Crisis shelter supporting women and victims of sex trafficking, will be held.
PRISM will have a free rock painting booth and will be selling pride flags and stickers. Individuals can stop by the PRISM booth and enter for a free chance to win several prizes:
• PRISM t-shirts
• PRISM water bottles
• Two gift baskets from the Broncbuster Bookstore
• Artwork
The GCCC Art Club will be selling potted plants.
The paramount meaning of all these organizations coming together is to partner with one another, and PRISM, to draw awareness and promote sexual assault prevention.
