In this time of uncertainty, nonprofits find themselves sending out an S.O.S., calling “Mayday! MAYDAY!” while hoping to find support and relief on the horizon.
There’s one fundamental truth that gives us hope – together we can do extraordinary things. Over the past several weeks, the world has been coming together to stand up, give back, and heal. Helping the entire world get through this global pandemic. Together.
At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on. Starting now until May 5, 2020, the MayDay! Nonprofit Relief Drive at the WKCF, the Foundation is collecting donations to support and provide relief to area nonprofits directly, as well as collecting donations to help support the newly established Urgent Needs Fund.
Our MayDay! goal is two-fold. First, this is a one-time opportunity for any non-profit in the 15-county service area of the Foundation to partner with the WKCF and utilize the power of collective giving to support their causes and programs through the COVID-19 crisis. The second goal of MayDay!, is to grow the Urgent Needs Fund, a fund established through the Western Kansas Community Foundation with the purpose of providing grants to support nonprofits during times of crisis and when affected by disaster.
MayDay! has the power to bring all sectors together in generosity to make sure area nonprofits have a fighting chance at making it through this pandemic. We all have gifts to give, and with social media, online giving, delivery, mail, and phones, generosity will take many forms to support others. Together.
