The Finney County Historical Society has published the 2020 Historic Finney County Calendar, featuring stylized and traditional pictures from the community’s past.
Copies of the wall calendar are in sale in the Finney County Museum Gift Shop at $15 each, plus tax. The gift shop is open concurrently with exhibits, 1-5 p.m. seven days weekly. It will also be open 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 during the museum’s holiday open house.
The calendar is sponsored by Heritage Realty, the Finney County Farm Bureau Association and Valley State Bank.
The museum is located at 403 S. Fourth Street in Garden City’s Finnup Park. Calendar and other museum store sales help support exhibits and historical society programs for the community.
The Saturday open house will feature live music, seasonal snacks, the debut of the 2019 Christmas exhibit, holiday shopping in the store and at booths set up by visiting vendors, antique car rides and a raffle for a Christmas quilt created by Cricket Turley of Garden City. Music at the event will include live carolers from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m., preceded by the Plymell Elementary Show Choir from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. The Christmas exhibit includes an every-other-year encore appearance of Santa’s Workshop, a seven-foot wide mechanical diorama dating to about 1950, flanked by original multimedia Christmas artwork pieces created in children’s workshops at Garden City Arts.
