Schools Inviting Veterans, First Responders To Breakfast

The student council at Kenneth Henderson Middle School will honor veterans of the community by inviting them to a breakfast on Friday, November 8th at 7:15 a.m.  The school would like to have veterans whether they are active duty or retired from any branch of the military, to attend the breakfast and program.

Following the breakfast, there will be a presentation by the KH Singers who will be performing the National Anthem and a medley of songs recognizing each branch of the military.  The school will also take time to recognize the veterans and their families in attendance.  The assembly will close with an update on the annual Operation Falcons Give in conjunction with the Travis Bachman Christmas Stocking Drive. Please RSVP to Brian Dinkel at Kenneth Henderson Middle School by Tuesday, November 5th, at bdinkel@gckschools.com, or by phone at 620-805-8525 .

Plymell Elementary staff and students will host a Heroes’ Breakfast on Friday, November 8th, as part of the Veterans Day celebration at the school.  The school’s staff has invited personnel from the Garden City Fire and Police departments, Finney County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Finney County EMS, LifeSave, and veterans to the breakfast.  The school will be expressing its gratitude for everything that they do to keep our community safe.

The LifeSave helicopter will be landing at the school at 8:30 a.m.  Students will have an opportunity to watch the helicopter land on the playground at the school.

The school will be serving breakfast to the first responders at 8:30 a.m.  The event provides a great way for the first responders to visit the school.  It is also gives the students a way to get to know the first responders who serve the community on more of a personal level.
