to Host Invitational Collegiate Quiz Bowl Tournament Nov. 2

Garden City Community College’s Quiz Bowl team will be hosting the opening tournament of the season again this year.  The Garden City Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament will be held on the GCCC campus on Saturday, November 2, in the Academic Building. Participating teams will arrive for a 9:00 a.m. start and will break for lunch around 12:00 p.m.  The tournament should end by 4:00 p.m.

Teams expected to participate in this regional (western Kansas) tournament include Dodge City Community College, Hesston College, and Garden City Community College.  Cloud County Community College also participates in the western Kansas region, but will not attend the Garden City event. Redlands Community College from El Reno, Oklahoma is also invited to participate.

Collegiate Quiz Bowl is an academic team that participates in fun, fast-paced, quiz-style tournaments similar to Scholars Bowl and Bible Bowl.  Quiz questions are drawn from any topics covered by a community college curriculum: math, literature, art, physical and social sciences, history, religion, geography, music, and current events.  Jeanie Ferguson has served as the head coach for the team since 2014; Cody Cundiff is the team’s assistant coach.

Garden City Community College exists to produce positive contributors to the economic and social well-being of society.
