On August 9, 2019, and the days following, Finney County and the communities of Holcomb and Garden City once again proved why this community is so special.
Numerous posts flooded social media outlets with an outpouring of support for Tyson and their employees and families. Local businesses organized supply drives in the middle of the night to provide food, water and supplies to our first responders fighting the substantial blaze at the Tyson Fresh Meats plant located in Holcomb. USD 457 and USD 363 provided buses to transport employees to safety at Wiley Elementary School in Holcomb; The American Red Cross chapter and Salvation Army were on site to provide food and drinks; Pizza Hut in Garden City donated a truck load of pizzas; Jax Sports Grille organized a supply drive until 2 am on Saturday, August 10; Garden City Boxing Club assisted in loading supplies to deliver to first responders; Tyson employees supplied first responders with food and drink, and the list goes on.
This is what we do. This is what makes this community the best place to do business, raise a family, LIVE. The Finney County community has proven itself numerous times in the past, and it continues to rise to the occasion. We have proven that there is no obstacle, no mountain that is insurmountable. The people of Finney County, Garden City, and Holcomb are continually there to help their neighbor, large or small. We value our people and our businesses, we are a community united, a family.
We stand with Tyson yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We value their contribution, partnership and commitment to our community. We view this as an opportunity to make ourselves better and stronger. #forwardtogether
