Garden City Public Schools Summer Food Service program provides free summertime meals to children and youth ages 18 and under. No reservations are needed for the meals. Adults may purchase a lunch at a cost of $4.
The 2019 summer breakfast and lunch program started June 3 and continues through June 28 at Abe Hubert Elementary School, Buffalo Jones Elementary, Florence Wilson Elementary, Gertrude Walker Elementary and Victor Ornelas Elementary School.
Breakfast will be served 8 – 8:45 a.m. and lunch will be served 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Victor Ornelas Elementary School will serve lunch 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Garfield Early Childhood Center will provide breakfast and lunch Monday – Thursday through June 27. Breakfast will be served 8 – 8:45 a.m. and lunch will be served 10:45 – 11:00 a.m.
Horace Good Middle School will provide lunch Monday – Thursday, June 3 – 27and July 8– 25. Lunch will be served 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Garden City High School will provide breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday through July 27. Breakfast will be served 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Sack lunches will be provided Monday through Thursday through July 25. The sites and times include:
- 10:30 – 11 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at Crazy House, 3502 N Campus Dr.
- 10:30 – 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Harold Long Park, 1001 E Spruce St.
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Rd.
- 11:30 a.m. – Noon at Ayala Park, 216 N. Taylor Ave.
- 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. at the Public Swimming Pool, 312 E Finnup Dr.
Finney County Public Library, 605 E Walnut Street, will serve sack lunches Monday – Saturday during June and July from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The meals are similar to those provided during the school year, providing an entree as well as plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is an equal opportunity provider.
