Candidates for local office have until June 3 to file
The deadline to file as a candidate for the county commission and other offices is noon Friday, June 1.
The deadline to file as a candidate for city commission, school board and GCCC Board of Trustees is noon Monday, June 3.

The filing deadline for anyone interested in running for seats on the Garden City and Holcomb city councils and school boards, and the Garden City Community College Board of Trustees is noon Monday, June 3.

There are four at-large seats available on the Garden City Commission; two at-large seats and the mayor’s spot on the Holcomb City Council; four seats on the Garden City-USD 457 school board; four seats on the Holcomb-USD 363 school board; and three positions on the GCCC Board of Trustees. There is also an open seat on the Drainage District 2 Board of Directors.  

Filing packets are available at the Finney County Election Office, 311 N. Ninth St., Garden City. The deadline to file is noon Monday, June 3.

There is a $20 filing fee for all offices. The Garden City Commission also requires payment of a $50 Governmental Ethics disclosure fee at the time of filing for any of those positions. Make payments by cash, check, or money order to the Finney County Election Officer upon returning the filing packet.

Interested persons should contact the boards directly for information about the open position(s) and/or any other requirements.

Depending on the number of candidates that file, there may be a Primary Election on Aug. 6. The General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
