GCHS art students take home awards from FHSU event

Garden City High School art students took 125 pieces of artwork and won 47 awards at the annual Fort Hays State University Student Art Competition on April 17. 

Students created their artwork using a variety of mediums and disciplines, including oil, acrylic, encaustic & watercolor painting, clay sculptures, ceramics, fiber art, digital graphic designs, mixed media, drawings in charcoal, pencil, pastel, scratch board, and colored pencil. Students also toured the FHSU art department and gained experience setting up and taking down an art show.
