Jennie Wilson Elementary to hold Ag Day
Jennie Wilson Elementary School will hold an Ag Day from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. The hands-on educational event will show students the essential role agriculture plays in the region.
Students will participate in a number of activities related to agriculture. Local farmers and Garden City Community College students will help students bridge what they are learning in the classroom with agriculture.
The students will visit various stations around the school that will focus on sunflowers, milo, corn, cotton, and soybeans.
The event is made possible with the support of the Farm Bureau Association.
Bernadine Sitts Turkey GLO Trot 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center is hosting a Turkey GLO Trot 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Friday, Nov. 2. Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the school and the race will start at 6:30 p.m.
The school is supporting healthy active lifestyles and will be taking non-perishable food donations for the entry fee for the race. The donated food will be presented to the Emmaus House.
There will be four turkeys given away during the event.

GCHS Debate Team wins Dodge City tourney
The Garden City High School debate team won the school Sweepstakes award with a three team record of 14 wins and one loss, and swept all of the novice placings at the Dodge City Boot Hill Debate tournament on Oct. 27.
In addition to the school winning the tournament, the following teams placed at the event: Drew Unruh/Jessica Angulo – first place in Open (4-1 record), Kyler Bennett/Isabel Stratman- first place in Novice (5-0 record, perfect speaker points), Melanie Varela/Brooklyn Sperry- second place in Novice (5-0 record), David Tidwell/Gunner Newberry- third place in Novice (5-0 record), Lesly Cruz/Nayeli Godinez- fourth place in Novice (4-1 record), and Audrey Norquest/Natalie Radke- fifth place in Novice (3-2 record).
The team will host an invitational tournament on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Garden City High School, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. Russ Tidwell coaches debate at GCHS.
