Crystal Apple finalists named

Six teachers from Garden City Public Schools have been named finalists for this year’s Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce Crystal Apple Teacher Recognition Awards. Thirteen semi-finalists were announced last week.

The 2018 finalists from the district are: A’Lana Bates Aronson, Horace J. Good Middle School; Sarah Drubinskiy, Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center; Violet Dubois, Horace J. Good Middle School/Kenneth Henderson Middle School; Sarah Harris, Victor Ornelas Elementary School; Barbara Hilt, Garden City High School; and Denna Welch-Haney, Abe Hubert Elementary School.

The top three finalists will be named as the 2018 Crystal Apple Teachers of Finney County at the awards banquet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Clarion Inn, 1911 East Kansas Ave. The three finalists will receive an engraved crystal apple, $1,000 cash award and an iPad tablet. The three semi-finalists will be presented with a cash award of $250.

Reservations for the banquet are required by 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, and cost $25 per person, payable in advance to the Chamber of Commerce, 1509 E. Fulton Terrace.

This program is made up of representatives from the business community. The Crystal Apple program strives to honor outstanding teachers in Finney County for their exceptional efforts in education.
