High School, Grade School students to team up on project

The Garden City High School sculpture and graphic design classes are excited to announce that they have teamed up with the fourth-graders at Jennie Wilson Elementary School on a collaborative art project called “Monsters in the Closet.”

Erika Victor’s fourth grade art students used their creativity and imaginations to design and paint a series of little monsters. Emily Baker’s GCHS Sculpture 1 classes are learning the techniques and skills of needle felting, and how to create a fiber art sculpture.

They will be bringing the “little monsters” to life by needle felting a three dimensional sculpture of the fourth graders’ designs. Joshua Greenberg’s GCHS Graphic Design class is learning to further their skills in Adobe Illustrator to design a three dimensional interactive package for the sculptures.

A presentation and workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Jennie Wilson Elementary to finalize the collaboration with all students. Some of the creations will be displayed at the Educational Support Center on Nov. 27 and 28 during the K-12 Art Show.
