New Gertrude Walker Elementary School principal hired

Garden City Public Schools has hired Amy Hollingsworth to be the new principal at Gertrude Walker Elementary School starting the 2018-19 school year. The USD 457 Board of Education approved Hollingsworth’s appointment at the June 21 board meeting.

This will be the first year that Hollingsworth will be in the school district. She was with USD 443 Dodge City school district during the 2017-18 school year serving as an Instructional Coach. She was a teacher at USD 476 Copeland from 2007-2017, and was a teacher before that at USD 443 Dodge City for three years.

Hollingsworth is taking over the position after Phil Keidel retired from the school district at the end of the 2017-18 school year. Keidel led Gertrude Walker for four years. He also worked as a teacher for the district’s adult education Bison Program, an associate principal at Garden City High School, was the district’s transportation director and then principal of Gertrude Walker, totaling eight years with the school district.
