As part of a larger fundraising effort, Heartland Cancer Center in Garden City will be hosting a community-wide chili feed fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 17, to raise money for a 3D Mammography system to be housed at St. Catherine Hospital.
The event will be inside Heartland Cancer Center, 410 East Spruce St., just south of St. Catherine Hospital. The cost is $5 for a bowl of chili, bag of chips, drink, and a cookie. There will also be raffle tickets available to be purchased for a variety of prizes.
The 3D mammography system will offer women in southwest Kansas the latest in breast cancer detection without the need to travel. The system is better for dense or large breasts, detects calcification better, cuts down on recall rate by 40 percent, and will replace two existing mammography units.
