From Garden City Family YMCA:

Congratulations to our Garden City Branch “Of the Month” winners!

Each Receives a free 30 day pass to the Y for a friend and 2 free buffets courtesy of Golden Corral Restaurant, in addition to other prizes unique to each category.

Volunteer of the Month: Cara Kieft

“I nominated Cara Kieft because she came all the way from out of state to voluntarily run the summer swim meet. Knowing I would not be able to run the meet due to being on maternity leave, I reached out to Cara almost two months in advance. Cara used to work as the Aquatics Director at teh Y so I knew she could handle it. When she said she would love to come down and help, I could not have been more relieved that the swim meet would be in the hands of a capable, experienced person like Cara! We flew Cara in all the way from Tennessee and she came and rocked it! Cara did an amazing job and went above and beyond. I will never be able to thank her enough. Without Cara the swim meet would have been a disaster, so Thank You, Cara!!”  ~ Keali Shelton, Aquatics Director.

Member of the Month: Rachel Acker

“Rachel is AMAZING to start off! She is very dedicated and determined when she puts her mind to something. I have known Rachel for years as my husband coached two of her boys through 5th and 6th grade basketball. Through the years she has been a HUGE advocate for the YMCA and helped with many sporting events that happen at Kenneth Henderson. She is here working out just about every day for about two hours a day and kills it!! She is ALWAYS willing to try something new and will accept challenges with the best of them! I am thrilled to honor her as our Member of the Month as she is absolutely deserving!!! Keep up the good work and continue to push, even if it means sore muscles you never knew could hurt!!!” ~ Krystal Richardson, Family Director

Ambassador of the Month: Carrye Jane Mantilla

“I nominated Carrye Jane because she has been with us for over 5 years and is here several times a week. She utilizes our fitness center, weight room and lap pool, and always pushes herself to get the most out of her workouts. Carrye Jane has a positive attitude and a friendly demeanor, and sets a great example for other members. We’re happy you’re a part of the Y Family, Carrye Jane! ” ~ Sarah Waller, YMCA of Southwest Kansas Marketing Director

Family of the Month: The Perez Family

“The Perez Family meets the core values that the Y stands for: Caring, Honest, Respect, and Responsibility. Ever since I have started working here this family has come in BRIGHT and EARLY. Nancy and Antonio Perez, and their son Elijah Perez, are always ready to start the day and push themselves to be the best they can be! Keep up the good work!!” ~ Edith Gonzalez, MSA

Youth of the Month: Patricia Cruz

“I nominated Patricia for Youth of the Month because she is here every day, and for several other reasons. First, she is a very nice little girl and well mannered. I have witnessed her hold the door open for various people, myself included. She also stays busy with the different activities that we offer here at the Y. Her brother and sister are also here each day and all three of them get along very well with eachother and with all the other kids that are here. Patricia also not only uses our equipment but takes care of the equipment. She sets a good example for other kids to follow and displays our core values very well. Patricia: Good gob and keep up the good work!” ~ Steven Lynch, Healthy Living Director

Employee of the Month: Shae Wyckof

“During the summer, Shae worked as a lifeguard. Shae comes back home during the summers from college. This summer our Aquatics Director was gone and Shae really stepped up and helped all she could. Shae comes and just gets right to work, and we never hear a concern or complaint about her lifeguarding. She does a great job and is part of what makes the YMCA a great place to come swim.” ~ Brian Hultgren, Sports Director
