Art opportunities abound on First Friday

Members of the public are invited to view a variety of art produced by local artists during Garden City Arts monthly First Friday Art Walk this Friday, Sept. 1, between 4 and 9 p.m.

Participants can come and go at their own leisure at each art stop between the hours listed. Admission is free for all locations and everyone is welcome. Art stops, times and locations include:

*4 p.m. to dark: Garden City Arts and Downtown Vision are excited to continue ArtStart this summer. This month’s featured work from the participants of July’s Drop-In Art Saturday program at Garden City Arts. Mini canvases will be ‘planted’ on stakes in the flower pots between Fulton and Spruce that line Main Street. These mini canvases can be viewed throughout the month of August.

*5 to 7 p.m.: Come visit the Mercer Gallery for a reception celebrating Muslim American/American Muslim photography of Robert Gerhardt.

*5 to 7 p.m.: Works by Robin Valenzuela will be featured in Patrick Dugan’s newly renovated expansion. Stop by to view the work and enjoy one of their delicious drinks.

*7 to 9 p.m.: Garden City Arts will feature the artwork of Hays based artist Matthew Miller during his solo exhibit ‘Cloud Farm.’ Miller explains, “These paintings capture the shifting and surging impulses of nature, and have become for me a visual record of my own wandering spirit.” Please stop by anytime between 7 and 9 p.m. to meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments.
