Schools, college offer Valentine entertainment

Garden City Public Schools and Garden City Community College have a variety of Valentine’s Day entertainment in store coming up.

Edith Scheuerman Tigerrific Sign Choir to provide singing/signing valentines

The Edith Scheuerman Elementary School Tigerrific Sign Choir will provide a singing/signing valentine to a friend, parents, grandparents, or anyone you wish for $10. The loved one will also receive a carnation as part of the special serenade.

The choir will perform its singing/signing valentines from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, and 4:45 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.

People interested in ordering the special serenade should contact Edith Scheuerman Elementary School at 805-7350. Times are limited and the service is first come, first served.

The deadline for the serenades is noon Wednesday, Feb. 7.

All proceeds from the serenades go to the Edith Scheuerman Elementary School Tigerrific Sign Choir for expenses.

GCHS Show Choir to provide singing valentines

The Garden City High School Show Choir is also offering singing valentines for $25. The choir will perform the singing valentines from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and Wednesday, Feb. 14.

The choir will also offer its singing services at scheduled times to high school students and staff during school on Feb. 13 – 14. The serenades at the high school are $12 each.

All proceeds from the serenades go to the GCHS Modern Show Choir for expenses.

Valentine’s Dinner Show

The Garden City High School Modern Show Choir will present a Valentine’s Dinner Show, entitled “Love is in the Air,” on Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Commons Area at Garden City High School, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. This is a special evening for couples to get out and enjoy a dinner and a live show.

The evening will include a tri-tip steak dinner and trimmings, along with an exquisite dessert table, along with a show. The price for the evening is $30 per individual and $50 per couple.  Guests can also reserve a table of eight for $250.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the show beginning at 6:30 p.m.

GCCC Department of Music Choral Valentine’s Concert

The Garden City Community College Department of Music Vocal Music Ensembles, directed by J. Clayton Wright, will present a choral valentine’s concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the Pauline Joyce Auditorium.

The program will feature the GCCC College Singers and the Concert Choir will perform a variety of love songs, with vocal solos and ensembles performing favorites like “Send in the Clowns” by Stephen Sondheim, “Someone to Watch Over Me”, by George and Ira Gershwin and “The Way You Look Tonight” by Fields and Kern.

Admission to the concert is free.
